DUSHANBE, April 18, 2009, Asia-Plus -- A running race dedicated to a Capital City Day started in Dushanbe today at 7:30 am.
According to Dilsohod Qurbonov, the head of the department for youth, sports and tourism affairs within the Dushanbe mayor’s office, the race is held from 7:30 am to 11:00 am and participants are running along the Hofiz Sherozi to the traffic police checkpoint Chorbogh in the Varzob district and back.
The mayor’s office has allocated 24,000 somoni for holding of this sports activity and winner will receive 5,000 somoni, 2nd place – 4,000 somoni, and 3rd place – 3,000 somoni.
Qurbonov noted that two female participants that would show the best results among female participants of the race would receive 1,500 somoni each.
Representatives of all educational facilities, enterprises and organizations based in Dushanbe aged 14 and are participating in the race.
“Representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations active in Tajikistan have also expressed wish to participate in the race,” Qurbonov said.
