DUSHANBE, March 27, Asia-Plus  -- Mavzouna Choriyeva ended her bid in the Sixth Asian Women’s Boxing Championship setting for silver medal after bowing in the final of the event that took place in Ulan Bator, Mongolia.

Mavzouna Choriyeva was the only representative of Tajikistan at the tournament.  She participated in the -60kg category.  In the final, Mavzouna Choriyeva was defeated by Indian boxer Sarita Devi Laishram.

The tournament which began on March 16 and concluded on March 25 reportedly attracted nearly 100 boxers from 17 countries and regions including China, Mongolia, Afghanistan, India, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, DPR Korea, Tajikistan.

China’s Xinhua reports China dominated the 6th Asian Women''s Boxing Championship with five gold, two silver and three bronze medals.  China, who topped the medal tally, sent 10 boxers to the tournament and every boxer had won a medal. 

India also made good performances during this tournament.  Two gold, four silver and two bronze medals enabled the team to obtain the second place.

Host Mongolia won 2 gold medals and 2 bronze medals, finishing third on the tally. 

The remaining gold medal for the 57kg category was grabbed by Thai boxer Tassamalee Thongjan.
