DUSHANBE, January 20, Asia-Plus -- Last year’s gross agricultural product from all categories was 2.773 billion Somonis and increased by 3.1 percent compared to 2004, an official with the Ministry of Agriculture told journalists on January 18.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, during 2005 all categories of farms produced 554,900 tons potatoes or 5.3 percent more than in 2004, 170,000 tons of vegetables and melon crops, 148,000 tons of fruits and 90 tons of grapes.
As of January 2006 there were 1,375,000 head of cows, more than 3,000,000 head of sheep and goats and 2,400,000 head of poultry on all categories of farms.
