Tajik “doira” players to attend international festival in Kyrgyzstan

, April 19, Asia-Plus - Family ensemble of “doira” players (Tajik national musical instrument - a kind of tambourine) from the northern city of
Konibodom
will represent
Tajikistan
in an international friendship festival “Orukzar Mekeninde” in the Kyrgyz city of
Batken
set for April 21. The head of the family ensemble is Siddiqjon Nematov.
Abdughaffor Abdujabborov, an official with the Ministry of Culture, has told Asia-Plus that the main objective of the festival is in promoting development of traditional culture, folk music, as well as strengthening of international creative contacts.
According to him, ensembles from various countries of the world will take part in the festival in Batken. Besides, exhibitions of paintings and books will be held there on sidelines of the festival.
