Compared to 2004 a rate of official registration of new-born by the country’s registry offices increased by 6.4 percent or 10,700 people during last year.
Specialists says that during last year a 14.7 percent increase in the birth rate was reported in the districts subordinate to the center (by 4,700 new-born more compared to 2004), a 9.3 percent increase in Dushanbe (1,200 new-born more) and a 7.1 percent increase in Khatlon province (5,200 new-born more).
At the same time, the birth rate in Gorno Badakhshan and Sughd province dropped last year by 4.9 percent (100 new-born fewer) and 0.8 percent (300 new-born fewer) respectively.
