DUSHANBE, October 13, Asia-Plus - The Government of Tajikistan has approved grants for 20 women’s public associations, Ravshanoi Umarova, an official with the Committee for Family and Women’s Affairs announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on October 13.
According to her, projects submitted by these 20 organizations have been competitively selected from among projects submitted for grants by 100 women’s NGOs from all regions of the republic.
“A special commission consisting of experts from various ministries, departments and NGOs dealing with legal and economic issues as well as entrepreneurs considered the submitted projects during two months,” Umarova said. “The selected projects have met all the set requirements such as raising legal awareness among women, providing them with jobs and development of small and medium entrepreneurship among women.
Ten women’s NGOs will receive grants of 10,000 somonis each, and ten others grants of 5,000 somonis each. All these projects have been designed for six months.
