DUSHANBE, February 14, Asia-Plus -- An Ecology Day will be marked in Dushanbe on the last Saturday of each month, Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, said.
According to him, Mayor Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev signed a resolution on this subject yesterday.
The mayor also approved a plan of actions of the mayor’s office on this issue and a schedule of planting trees in the city with due regard for recommendations of the Academy of Sciences, the spokesman said.
Heads of city’s districts are to set up district commissions and organize subbotniks (days of volunteer work) for cleansing the streets of garbage and planting trees.
