The Government of Uzbekistan has approved the procedure of border, customs, sanitary-and-quarantine, phytosanitary and veterinary control at the border crossing points (BCPs).

For the purpose of avoiding extra hassle at the BCPs, the control of divers, vehicles and commodities will be conducted through the Unified Customs Single-Window Information System, CA-News reports, citing the Telegram-Channel of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice.

The checkpoint time is determined at 15 minutes for cars and 30 minutes for trucks. The sanitary-and-quarantine control will take 3 minutes, border control – 4 minutes, customs control – 15 minutes, phytosanitary control – 4 minutes, and veterinary control – 4 minutes.

Uzbekistan shares borders with Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Due to conflicts, natural disasters or diseases, the border crossings can close unpredictably.

Previously, crossing the border into Uzbekistan was quite a hassle. You had to fill in customs documents in twofold, and lengthy examinations of your luggage and long lines were a fact of life.
