Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport announced plans to launch new international bus routes connecting Uzbekistan with Central Asia’s countries, as well as with Russia and China.
According to the Ministry's press service, routes to Tajikistan will include Samarkand – Dushanbe and Bukhara – Dushanbe bus routes.
Additional routes will be established to Kazakhstan (Bukhara – Turkestan, Urgench – Aktau, and Fergana – Almaty via Tajikistan) and Kyrgyzstan (Andijan – Osh, Andijan – Jalal-Abad, Andijan – Arslanbob, Kasansay – Jalal-Abad, and Bukhara – Bishkek).
Bus services to Russia will also be introduced, including routes such as Surkhandarya – Bukhara – Urgench – Nukus – Moscow, Urgench – Nukus – Ufa, Nukus – Krasnodar, Tashkent – Ufa, and Tashkent – Krasnodar.
For China, a new route will connect Nukus – Urgench – Bukhara – Urumqi.
Improving connectivity and convenience
The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan emphasized that these new routes will significantly improve transportation links between the countries and make travel more convenient for citizens of the region.
The Ministry has invited transportation companies interested in organizing international routes to submit proposals. It is also open to applications from foreign operators wishing to provide reciprocal services along the specified routes.
Additionally, the Ministry is accepting suggestions for launching routes to other international destinations. Interested parties can contact the Ministry at +998 (71) 202 05 00 (extensions: 535, 116, 110).
Tickets for the new international routes, as well as for domestic routes within Uzbekistan, can be purchased through the official website avtoticket.uz and the mobile apps ATTO and UzBUS.
Previous developments
In 2022, new international bus routes were launched from Tajikistan to several cities in Uzbekistan. These routes are operated by the Tajik transportation company Asia Group Tajikistan Holding.
