DUSHANBE, October 13, 2009 Asia-Plus -- Tajik athletes have won 212 medals, including 53 gold, 66 silver and 93 bronze ones, in various international competitions this year, Ms. Nargis Nabiyeva, the chairperson of the sports and physical culture department within the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, said.
“Until the end of this year, our athletes will participate in some 10 other international competitions and we hope they will more medals,” Nabiyeva noted.
According to data of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs, 113 sports schools, more than 1,000 sports halls and more than 4,000 grounds now function in Tajikistan.
