DUSHANBE, June 21, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- Iranian coach Arash Javanshir has been training Tajik national team for the Asian Karatedo Championships that will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from July 14-17 this year.

At present more than 40 Tajik karatekas are having team practice session in Tursunzoda and Iranian coach has arrived in Tajikistan on invitation of the Tajikistan Karate Federation (TKF), the TKF head Muhammad Bodakov told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.

According to him, there are an estimated more than 6,000 people practicing karate in Tajikistan.   

As far as the World Karate Federation (WKF) is concerned, it now has more than fifty million members.  It is the only karate organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee.    

The Asian Karatedo Federation (AKF) is the governing body of sport karate of about 39 countries of karatedo federation in Asia.  The AKF is a non-profit organization and performs its activities on an amateur basis in compliance with the principles set forth in the Olympic Charter, duly recognized by the WKF.  The AKF organizes the Asian Karatedo Championships, the Junior and Senior AKF Championships in every two years in between the Olympic and Asian Games and participates in WKF World Karate Championships.
