DUSHANBE, March 6, Asia-Plus  -- The one one-day republican media conference formally titled “Access to Information: Achievement and Prospects” resulted in adoption of a declaration.

Noting that all principles of holding of quarterly news conferences were observed as whole last year, participants at the conference, however, said that some ministers, department heads and local officials had shown a superficial approach to meetings with media.

Representatives from media telling the conference noted that some officials refused to meet with journalists and provide them, and heads of local authorities in the districts even did not know what to tell at briefings.  Therefore journalists have lost interest in attending such news conferences.  In this connection, the conference recommended to both official and journalists to prepare more seriously for such events.

The declaration considers its expedient to accredit journalists at the state organs ad recommends press services of ministries, departments and local authorities to improve their work with media.
