DUSHANBE , March 17, Asia-Plus -- Since the beginning of the year, a rate of inflation in Tajikistan has amounted to 2.4 percent, according to figures provided by Tajikistan ’s State Committee for Statistics.  

During this same period prices set by producers of food products increased, including potatoes – by 36.6 percent, sugar – 25.5 percent, onions – 23.9 percent, carrots – 20.9 percent, cabbages – 6 percent, apples – 3.4 percent, milk – 2.4 percent, animal fat – 1.1 percent and noodles – 0.3 percent.   

At the same time, prices of some foodstuffs have decreased, including eggs – by 16 percent, concentrated milk – 4.3 percent, grade 1 wheat flour – 1.4 percent, poultry – 0.8 percent, mutton and margarine – 0.5 percent each.  

 Since the beginning of the year, prices and rate of paid services rendered to the population have increased by 3.1 percent as a whole, including phone communication – by 40.2 percent, rail fares – 13.2 percent, and air fares – 2.2 percent.
