DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus - One the main purposes of the visit to Tajikistan is for me to negotiate the issue of launching a joint venture in Tajikistan, Aleksey Miller, chairman of the board of Russia’s Gazprom joint-stock company, today told journalists in Dushanbe following his meeting with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov.

“This issue was in the center of discussions with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov,” Mr. Miller said.

“Gazprom is becoming company, priorities of which are gas, oil and electric power,” said the Gazprom head, “Now the most important thing for us is to determine organizing-legal forms of investing in your republic.”

According to him, it is planned to open representative office of the Gazprom affiliate “Zarubezhneftgaz” (overseas oil-and-gas company) in Tajikistan.

Asked about volumes of investments, Mr. Miller said that it was necessary to discuss that problem, “but funds should allow working effectively.”
