According to information from the Interior Ministry department for combating drug trafficking (drug police), the border guards spotted and tried to detain drug trafficker when he was illegally crossing the border river in the Shugnan district of Gorno Badakhshan today morning. But the trespasser left the drugs and managed to flee. Almost nine kilograms of drugs, including more than five kilograms of hashish, some two kilograms of heroin and about two kilograms of raw opium, were found on the spot. Investigation is under way.
According to information from the Tajik border service, the country’s border troops intercepted more than 1.8 tons of drugs, with some 840 kilograms of them being heroin, last year.
