Dead birds found in some areas of Tajik capital

Lately, dead birds were found in Dushanbe and various regions of Tajikistan. Tajik chief veterinarian Mullojon Amirbekov claims that birds died of not avian influenza (bird flu) but of seasonal bird plague.

’s veterinary service chief, has told Asia-Plus that the results of the test have shown that birds died of not the bird flu but of the bird plague, which outbreaks seasonally and quite frequently.
He has also noted that a meeting to discuss problems of bird flu and ways of preventing spread of the disease in
Tajikistan
as well as ways of combating bird flu if it is registered in republic opened in the building of the Ministry of Agriculture today.
Amirbekov has noted that no case of bird flu has been registered in the country so far. “But we were waiting spring with anxiety as the risk of spread of the disease exists during the spring migration because the republic is located in Central Asia on a major migratory flyway path,” Mr. Amirbekov said.
