DUSHANBE , April 4, Asia-Plus - Officers from the Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) have seized more than 256 kilograms of drugs over the first three months of the year.  

Avaz Yuldoshev, a spokesman for the DCA, says the totaled included 141 kilograms of heroin, some 20 kilograms of raw opium and 95 kilograms of cannabis.   30 attempts of drug trafficking have been warded off over the same three-month period, according to him.  

Besides, the DCA officers have also seized two explosives, nine firearms and 842 ammunition in January-March 2006, Yuldoshev said.  

According to the DCA spokesman, 11 joint operations by the DCA and special services from the CIS states and Afghanistan have led to seizure of more than 348 kilograms of drugs, with 218 kilograms of them being heroin, over the past three months.
