DUSHANBE , April 13, Asia-Plus - International organizations have provided 89 million U.S. dollars this year so far to support improvement of the education sector in Tajikistan , Education Minister Abdujabbor Rahmonov announced at a briefing in Dushanbe on April 13.   

According to him, US$48 million have been assimilated on improvement of material-technical basis, refurbishment of schools and purchase of textbooks.  

The minister says that of 157 items of textbooks, schools have still received 107.  “The ministry have money but does not have enough specialists to work out textbooks,” Abdujabbor Rahmonov said, noting that despite difficulties they have already published 27 items of textbooks.   

The other problem is shortage of teachers at the country’s schools,” said the minister, “To date, Tajikistan has had 8,880 teacher’s vacancies.”
