DUSHANBE, April 14, Asia-Plus -- Sughd law enforcement officers have warded off an attempt to smuggling mercury into the republic.
According to information from the Ministry of Interior, officers from the Sughd directorate for combating organized crime Thursday [April 13] detained a 19-year-old resident of Khujand, Yuri Karmelyanov, when he was trying to push 1.02 kilograms of mercury.
Yuri Karmelyanov faces charge of illegal transportation and contraband of toxic substances.
