DUSHANBE , May 15, Asia-Plus - A joint operation by Tajik border troops and drug police led to seizure of more than 10 kilograms of drugs near Khorog, the capital of Gorno Badakhshan, on May 13.  

According to information from the Interior Ministry department for combating drug trafficking (drug police), the Afghan drug trafficker was detained when he was illegally crossing the border river in the area patrolled by Khorog border unit lat Saturday.  “More than five kilograms of heroin and the same amount of hashish were confiscated from him,” the source said.  An investigation is under way.   

Officers from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) intercepted more than 14 kilograms of drugs, including more than three kilograms of heroin last week, according to the source.  Eleven persons, including two women, were detained over the same period on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
