DUSHANBE , May 16, Asia-Plus - The first four months of this year have seen six engagements between Tajik border troops and armed drug smugglers on the Tajik-Afghan border, according to information from the Committee for Protection of the State Border of Tajikistan.

The Tajik border service’s press service says that 1,056 kilograms drugs, with more than 447 kilograms of them being heroin, have been intercepted on the border so far this year.

17 firearms, including four sub-machine-guns “Kalashnikov”, one machine-gun, four grenade launchers, 140 different landmines, two unguided missiles (NURS), 149 bullets of different caliber and other ammunition have been seized by Tajik border troops over the pas four and half months.
