DUSHANBE , May 22, Asia-Plus - Under agreement signed at the 15 th meeting of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) Interstate Council on the head of government level goods manufactured within the area of the Community will be marked by a common trademark.  The meeting was held in the Belarus capital of Minsk on May 19. 

Belarus Prime Minister Sergey Sidorsky chairs the meeting.  Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov, Kazakh Prime Minister Daniyal Akhmetov, Tajik Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and Uzbek Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyayev.  Kyrgyz delegation at the meeting was headed Kyrgyz presidential commissioner to the EAEC Integration Committee Almanbet Matubraimov.  According to some media, Premier Felix Kulov did not come for the meeting because of the tense public and political situation.

Twenty-five issues have been tabled to the meeting’s agenda.  According to information from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the meeting made corrections in the budget and the priority integration plans in the trade, economic and customs areas because of Uzbekistan ’s joining to the Community and completing of the process for Russia to join the World Trade Organization.  The meeting also paid particular attention to legal formalization of integration of the Central Asian Cooperation Organization uniting Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Russia , Tajikistan and Uzbekistan into the EAEC.  The decision to join the organization to the EAEC was taken at the head of state summit of the organization in St. Petersburg in October 6, 2005 .

The source says the meeting ended with signing of three documents including an agreement on introduction of the single trademark for goods manufactured within the EAEC area and an agreement on general principles of formation and application of railways tariffs for shipment of cargoes.  Signing of the agreements will allow to remove technical obstacles for free movement of products in the EAEC area without additional certification and facilitate movement of goods made in EAEC states and in third country across customs borders, according to the source.  

Besides, the council meeting also considered issues related to introduction of a common currency in member nations of the Community, the source said.     

The Interstate Council meets twice a year. The last meeting took place in Dushanbe in September 2005.

The Eurasian Economic Community groups Russia , Belarus , Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Tajikistan and Uzbekistan Armenia , Moldova and Ukraine have status of observer at the Community.
