KONIBODOM, June 20, Asia-Plus -- A cannery in the Tajik northern city of Konibodom has processed more than 1,300 tons of apricots this year so far, which is 655 tons more compared to the same period of 2005.

Director of the joint-stock company “Konibodom”, Ikromkhon Abdulkhalilov, has told Asia-Plus that they have to date produced 3.228 million conventional cans of tinned goods, which is 940,000 more compared to the same period of the last year.  According to him, they have concluded agreements with farming units of Konibodom and Isfara on purchase of more than 2,000 tons of fruits and vegetables this year.

Besides, new equipment has been installed at the Konibodom cannery that will allow increasing production of tinned goods, according to Mr. Abdulkhalilov.  He noted that some 90 percent of tinned fruits and vegetables produced this year had been exported to Kazakhstan and the remaining 10 percent to the Russian Federation .
