DUSHANBE, June 26, Asia-Plus -- Maternity Department of the Dushanbe City Medical Center hosts a training seminar formally titled “Effective Perinatal Care” for Tajik medical workers, according to information from the Ministry of Health (MoH).

The MoH source says this training is the first stage in introducing of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) initiative on providing safe motherhood and quality maternal and newborn health care services.

According to the source, the training seminar has brought together medical workers from to pilot maternal houses: the Dushanbe Medical Center and the Yovon Central District Hospital .  During two weeks trainers comprising WHO experts from Latvia , Moldova and other countries will instruct Tajik medical workers in principles of making pregnancy safer and promoting effective neonatal care based on the WHO recommendations.  The training consists of two components: theoretical and practical.  

The training is initiated by the Dushanbe Health Department under support of the USAID-sponsored ZravPlus Project.
