Shavkat Saidov, aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker for public relations, has told Asia-Plus that in the course of the talks Ubaidulloyev assessed a visit of Pakistani parliamentary delegation to Tajikistan as an evidence of Pakistan’s support for policy of Tajikistan’s leadership aimed at establishment of peace and stability in the region. “The present relationships between the two countries in the field of hydropower, light industry and development of banking sector in Tajikistan should enter new level with active use of opportunities of the countries’ parliaments,” Tajik speaker stressed.
On the global issues of international policy, the two agreed that Tajikistan and Pakistan as members of antiterrorist coalition would take urgent measures to fight drug trafficking in future as well.
Dwelling on participation of Tajikistan and Pakistan in international and regional organizations, Ubaidulloyev and Sumra pointed to the necessity of the workout of joint projects, particularly the construction of highway from Tajikistan to Pakistani port of Karachi that would promote increase in trade turnover between the two countries.
“During the meeting it was noted that the next session of the International Conference on Export of Electric Power in South and Central Asia will be held in Dushanbe in October this year,” Shavkat Saidov said.
For his part, Muhammad Mian Sumra noted that Pakistan was ready to take next steps to promote further expansion of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
