According to information from the Interior Ministry department for combating drug trafficking (drug police), their officers detained a 33-year-old unemployed Amirbek Barfakov following received report. When searching his house drug police officers found some five kilograms of heroin. Criminal proceeding have been instituted against Barfakov, and an investigation is under way.
The drug police source says that Tajik police have intercepted 1,461 kilograms of drugs over the first six months of this year. The totaled included 847 kilograms of heroin. 641 people, including 17 Afghans, have been detained over the same six-month period for drug trafficking.
