DUSHANBE, July 19, Asia-Plus  -- On Wednesday July 19, U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Richard E. Hoagland met with President Emomali Rahmonov at the end of his tenure to Tajikistan.  

Following his meeting with Emomali Rahmonov, Mr. Hoagland told journalists that they had a good conversation during which he expressed gratitude to Emomali Rahmonov for good partnership.  According to him, they discussed a broad range of issues related to the upcoming presidential elections in Tajikistan, economics and regional security.  

US diplomat highly appraised sustainable growth in Tajikistan’s economy during his working in Tajikistan as ambassador.  “Tajikistan has a great potential of reserves of water and power resources, and the United States is already cooperating with Tajikistan in this area,” Mr. Hoagland noted.  

            He also praised current foreign policy of Tajikistan’s leadership.  “Any country should have many partners on international arena,” US diplomat said.  

Mr. Richard E. Hoagland added that Ms. Tracey Ann Jacobson, who currently serves as US Ambassador to Turkmenistan.  

We will recall that Richard E. Hoagland has been nominated to be US Ambassador to Armenia.  

Ambassador Hoagland, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service.  Prior to serving as Ambassador to Tajikistan, he served as Director of the Office of Caucasus and Central Asian Affairs at the Department of State.  Earlier in his career, he served as Director of the Office of Public Diplomacy in the Bureau of South Asian Affairs.  Ambassador Hoagland received his bachelor''s degree from Taylor University and two master''s degrees from the University of Virginia.
