DUSHANBE, September 5, Asia-Plus -- Japan awards a grant of US$5 million to Tajikistan for rehabilitation of automotive road from Dusti, administrative center of the Qumsangir district, to the Panji Poyon jamoat in this district at the Tajik-Afghan border.

Source in the Tajik MFA Information Department says Tajik Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov and Hiroshi Takashi, Charge D’Affaires, Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, today exchanged notes on Japan’s allotting US$5 million in no-strings aid to Tajikistan for implementation of this project.

We will recall that this road is being rehabilitated within the framework of the project for building the bridge Panji Poyon-Sherkhon Bandar across the Panj River between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.  This project is being implemented under financial support of the United States, which has provided some US$30 million for implementing this project.
