DUSHANBE, September 6, Asia-Plus - A business forum of Persian-speaking peoples will be held in Dushanbe on September 7.
This business forum is being held on sidelines of the Sixth World Forum of Tajiks and Persian Peoples that will be held in Dushanbe on September 8.
According to information from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, representatives from business circles of Tajikistan, Iran, Afghanistan, as well as from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kazakhstan, Russia, Europe and America are expected to take part in the business forum’s work.
A source says the business forum is aiming to consider the possibilities of economic cooperation between the sides. “It cannot be ruled out that the forum will end with signing of agreements on launching joint ventures and drumming up investments in Tajikistan’s economy,” the source said.
Tajik Minister of Economy and Trade, Hakim Soliyev, as well as senior representatives from other relevant ministries and organizations of Tajikistan are expected to deliver statements at the forum to make them familiar with the business and investment environment in Tajikistan.
According to information from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, direct investments coming to Tajikistan over the first six months of 2006 have amounted to US$196.5 million, which is three times more compared to the whole year of 2005. Overall investments coming to Tajikistan over the same six-month period have amounted to US$275.1 million, including US$196.5 million in direct investments and US$78.6 million in other investments.
