DUSHANBE, September 21, Asia-Plus -- State and prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States were in the center of discussion of Saydullo Khairulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament), with U.S. Ambassador to Tajikistan Tracey Jacobson in Dushanbe today.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, said that in the course of the talks Khairulloyev briefed on the activity of the Tajik professional parliament. “Since its establishment in 2000, the Tajik professional parliament has adopted more than 700 laws meeting international standards, and adoption of them has created favorable conditions, in particular for expansion of thorough cooperation with foreign countries, including the United States,” Tajik speaker was quoted as saying.
“For her part, Jacobson expressed satisfaction with the present state of relations between the two countries and noted that she will undertake efforts to promote further expansion of these relations,” the Majlisi Namoyandagon spokesman concluded.
