DUSHANBE, October 23, Asia-Plus -- A memorial to commemorate journalists killed in the course of their professions will be officially opened in the hall of the printing-house Sharqi Ozod on October 27.
The Media Alliance of Tajikistan (MAT) is organizing then project.
The MAT secretary general, Vera Kulakova, told Asia-Plus that all media organizations active in Tajikistan had supported this initiative and it is implemented due to financial support of the OSCE Center in Dushanbe. According to her, the granite memorial board designed by Natalia Vasilyeva features symbolic tools of journalists, a notebook and pen.
”It will be a place where journalists can gather to commemorate their colleagues killed because of their professions,” Kulakova said.
Journalists, statesmen and known public figures will attend a ceremony of opening of the memorial board.
