DUSHANBE, November 1, Asia-Plus – IRNA – On Tuesday October 31, Tajik Deputy Minister of Interiors, Ramazon Rahimov, met in Tehran with Iran’s Minister of Interiors Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi to discuss cooperation issues. 

According to IRNA, in the course of the talks Iran’s minister said that economic activities require close cooperation in security matters.  He also added that any organization neglecting security issues will not last.

Turning to the fact that as an economic body the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) requires security to promote economy, Pour-Mohammadi said that the atmosphere of ECO ministerial meeting can give a new soul to the organization and prepare the grounds for promotion of security among member states.

He referred to ECO as a proper body to pursue the economic goals of the organization''s member states and underlined the priority of the issue of security over economic activities and that favorable security grounds in any country has a great impact on its economic achievements.

The minister pointed to close historical, cultural and religious relations between the two states and said that the problems facing Iran and Tajikistan are quite similar to each other and that both sides attempt towards public welfare and progress.

Pour-Mohammadi referred to job creation for the youth and prevention of corruption as two major ways for promotion of stability and security.   He stressed Iran is prepared to transfer its expertise in establishment of technical, professional and educational institutes.  "Meanwhile, transfer of experience in security field aiming to prevent corruption and deviation in Tajikistan is a proper ground for cooperation between the two countries," he added.

For his part, Rahimov presented a report on the status of employment and social problems encountered in Tajikistan, including distribution of drugs and corruption in government organizations, and appreciated Iran''s will to transfer its experience to his country.  The Tajik deputy minister also welcomed further cooperation with Iran and lauded Iran''s positive views.
