DUSHANBE, November 21, Asia-Plus - A ceremony of handover of aid provided by the UN Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC) was held at Tajikistan’s Drug Control Agency (DCA) in Dushanbe today.
According to the counternarcotics agency, the assistance included office equipment, transportation vehicles and communications means and other supplies for a total amount of nearly US$70,000.
Over the first ten months of this year, Tajik counternarcotics agency has intercepted more than 1,226 kilograms of drugs, with 466 kilograms of them being heroin. Besides, the DCA officers have seized three explosives and 14 firearms over the same ten-month period. 40 joint operations by officers from the DCA and other Tajik power-wielding agencies, as well as special services of the CIS states and Afghanistan have led to the seizure of more than 1,026 kilograms of drugs in January-October this year.
