DUSHANBE, November 24, Asia-Plus - Tojikgaz, Tajik national gas concern, says that it will increase supply of daily natural gas to the public during the upcoming electric power blackout in the country.
The Tojikgaz deputy director general, Shavkat Shoimov, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that they have received instruction from the government increase supply of daily natural gas in all regions of the country on November 28-29. “Not all depends on Tojikgaz,” said Shoimov, “We will try to negotiate with the Uzbek side to convince them to increase gas supplies.” “But even if Uzbekistan refuses to increase the gas supplies, we will increase supply of daily natural gas by 3-4 hours all the same.”
He noted that at present Tajikistan receives natural gas from Uzbekistan at the rate of nearly 3 million cubic meters per day. According to him, they cannot supply gas regularly because there is no agreement on this with the Uzbek side.
