DUSHANBE, November 27, Asia-Plus - Tajik police intercepted nearly 10 kilograms of raw opium in the northern district of Ayni last Saturday, November 25.
A source at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that their officers had found the drugs hidden in a petrol tank of a Volga sedan belonged to a 29-year0old resident of Panjakent Akbar Obloqulov. Obloqulov was detained on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking; investigation is under way.
Over the past week, Tajik police have intercepted 78 kilograms of drugs, according to the MoI source.
According to the MoI, their officers have seized more than 2,047 kilograms of drugs, including 1,093 kilograms of heroin, over the past ten months.
