DUSHANBE, November 29, Asia-Plus -- A two-day seminar formally titled “Expansion of Rural and Agricultural Crediting in Tajikistan: State, Problems and Opportunities” opened in Dushanbe yesterday.
The main objective of the seminar is to discuss opportunities and ways of expansion of loaning and other financial services for farmers and employees at processing units of Tajikistan.
The seminar participants include representatives from Tajik commercial banks, microfinance institutions, donor organizations, etc.
At an order of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) UN FAO has conducted a survey to define a level of requirements and demands in the field of agricultural crediting, and participants in the seminar will discuss the results of this survey.
Today, the seminar is considering issues of technical character and targeting employees at the banks that directly deal with rural crediting. The seminar is expected to result in adoption of recommendations on these issues.
