DUSHANBE, December 4, Asia-Plus - Tajik Journalists’ Union continues to reregister its members, Pulod Norov, an executive secretary at the Tajik Journalists’ Union, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, a re-registration campaign that was launched in August this year will last February 2007. “1,000 journalists, including 70 pensioners, have to date been reregistered with the union,” Norov said, noting that the membership fee amounts to 1.00 somoni per month. For those who join the union for the first time the first membership fee is 12.00, according to the union’s executive secretary.
Pulod Norov also noted that new ID cards meeting all international standards will be given to members of the Tajik Journalists’ Union. “Since Tajik Journalists’ Union is member of the International Confederation of Journalists, it is of no small importance,” Norov said.
