DUSHANBE, December 4, Asia-Plus - Officers from the Tajik transportation police have seized more than one kilogram of heroin at the Dushanbe airport, a source at Tajik transportation police told Asia-Plus on Monday.
On Sunday December 3, an inspection of passengers on the flight from Dushanbe to the Russian city of Yekaterinburg Tajikistan found 1.162 kilograms of heroin hidden in the luggage belonging to a 39-year-old resident of Hissor, Bakhtiyor Yoqubov. Criminal proceedings have been instituted against Yoqubov, an investigation is under way.
The Tajik transportation police have intercepted more than 298 kilograms, with nearly 280 kilograms of them being heroin, over the past eleven months.
