DUSHANBE, December 8, Asia-Plus - An operation by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) has led to the seizure of a large amount of raw opium in one of areas of Dushanbe.
A source at the Tajik counternarcotics agency told Asia-Plus that yesterday, when searching a garage in one microrayons of the capital city their officers found 11 kilograms of raw opium. The garage holder is arrested on suspicion of having been involved in drug trafficking.
The preliminary investigation has established that the garage was used for making hiding-laces in vehicles for transporting drugs to the north of the country, according to the source.
Over the past eleven months, the counternarcotics agency has seized more than 1,242 kilograms of drugs, including 470 kilograms of heroin.
