DUSHANBE, December 20, Asia-Plus - Tajik Journalists’ Union head Akbarali Sattorov is currently in India to familiarize himself with work of India’s leading mass media and hold meetings with Indian journalists and top managers of publishing houses, the Union executive secretary Pulod Nurov said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
The trip was arranged by the Indian Embassy in Dushanbe, according to Nurov.
The Union executive secretary also said a campaign to reregister the Union members is ongoing in the republic. According to him, some 1,000 journalists have to date been reregistered with the union. The membership fee amounts to 1.00 somoni per month. For those who join the union for the first time the first membership fee is 12.00 somonis, according to the union’s executive secretary.
The union has also started giving new ID cards meeting all international standards to its members.
