KHOROG, April 20, Asia-Plus -- The Pamir-1 hydropower plant will have worked in full capacity only by the end of the year, Safarmamad Qalandarov, deputy director general of PamirEnergy (Pamir Energy Company), announced at a briefing in Khorog.
According to him, rehabilitation of the plant is going on. “The main problem remains restoration of Unit 2,” said the company official, “To put this unit into operation it is necessary to fully replace the equipment and this can be done only at the enterprise that produced the original equipment.”
He noted that residents of Khorog and the nearby villages now are provided with electricity generated by the Khorog hydropower plant (8.6 megawatt) and one unit of the Pamir-1 plant (7 megawatt). “With coming of warm days requirements of Khorog in electricity have reduced that has allowed to supply it to residents of the nearby villages as well,” Qalandarov said.
