DUSHANBE, April 20, Asia-Plus -- Tajikistan’s Red Crescent Society (RCS) has provided humanitarian assistance to mudslide-affected residents of the Vahdat district.
Madina Sayfiddinova, RCS public relations officer, said that the assistance, including 150 blankets, 25 kitchen sets, 75 water tanks, was delivered to the district on April 19. According to her, 215 families (totaling 1,293 people) were affected by mudslides in Vahdat.
Sayfiddinova noted that the worst hit was the Rudaki district and therefore the main assistance was provided to that district. “921 families or 5,347 people were affected by disaster in Rudaki,” said Sayfiddinova, “400 blankets, 73 kitchen sets, 50 spades, 46 mattresses, 246 water tanks, as well a s 100 plastic pails, clothing, 170 pairs of shoes, etc.”
She noted that similar assistance had been provided to the disaster-affected people in Tursunzoda and Panjakent as well.
