DUSHANBE, June 1, Asia-Plus -- Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, speaker of Tajikistan’s upper chamber (Majlisi Milli) of parliament, today met in St. Petersburg with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Mironov, chairman of Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of the Russian parliament).
Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli head for relations with media and NGOs, told Asia-Plus that their talks had focused on the next Tajik-Russian forum that is supposed to be held in Moscow in the second half-year of 2007.
During the meeting, Ubaidulloyev suggested that the inter-parliamentary commission should consider the issue of legal protection of Tajik labor migrants working in Russian once again in the first half of June.
