DUSHANBE, June 22, Asia-Plus -- China’s Main Civil Aviation Directorate has offered TajikAir, Tajik national air carrier, to launch a new air route from Dushanbe to Beijing.

According to the Chinese Embassy in Dushanbe, this issue was discussed at a meeting of visiting China’s Main Civil Aviation Directorate Deputy Director General Yan Gotsin with Tajik Transport and Communications Minister Abdurahim Ashurov and TajikAir Director General Hokimsho Tilloyev in Dushanbe this week.

During the meeting, the sides considered issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and China in the field of civil aviation and a progress of implementation of the Tajik-Chinese government-to-government agreement on aerial communication between the two countries that was signed during President Rahmon’s visit to Beijing in January 2007.

They also discussed the possibility of increasing number of fights from Dushanbe and Khujand to China’s Urumqi and the possibility of China’s investing in modernization of airports in Tajikistan.

According to the source, the issue of leasing China’s MA-60 was also brought to attention of Tajik officials.

We will recall that China’s Main Civil Aviation Directorate deputy director general Yan Gotsin, heading a high-ranking delegation, arrived in Dushanbe on June 17 for a four-day visit.
