DUSHANBE, August 30, Asia-Plus - Deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) and former Interior Ministry, Khumdin Sharipov, died in Dushanbe yesterday night, aged 60 after a long illness, Asia-Plus has learned at the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

            Khumdin Sharipov was born in the Temurmalik (formerly Sovet) district on June 15, 1947.  In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Tajik National University. 

On graduation from the university, Khumdin Sharipov had worked in the country’s judicial system for twenty years.  In 1995, Khumdin Sharipov was Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Tajikistan.  In 1996, he headed President’s Executive Office.  From October 1996 to November 30, 2006 Khumdin Sharipov served as Minister of Interiors.  In April 2007, he was elected to the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
