KULOB, February 14, Asia-Plus -- A meeting with participation of Niyozmurod Saidmurodov, the chairman of Agroinvestbonk’s board, and Abdurahmon Qodiri, the deputy governor of the Khatlon province, was held in Kulob on February 12. The meeting discussed issues related to introduction of a new mechanism of financing cotton-growing farms in Khatlon’s Farkhor and Hamadoni districts.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Shamsuddin Saydaliyev, the head of the branch of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) in Kulob, noted that 12,930 hectares of farmland had been provided for cotton in Farkhor.
According to him, Agroinvestbonk will finance 4,095 hectares, Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) – 2,000 hectares, Tojiksodirotbonk (TSB) – 2,195 hectares, TajPromBank – 500 hectares, and the firm Nekrouz, which owns cotton-ginning factory – 2,000 hectares.
“The remaining some 2,000 hectares will be treated by farming units on the basis of self-financing,” Saydaliyev said.
“In the Hamadoni district, cotton will planted on 8,000 hectares,” the head of the NBT branch in Kulob said, noting Amonatbonk, TajPromBank and Agroinvestbonk will finance those areas.
He further added that the Amonatbonk head Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov yesterday held meetings with farmers in Danghara, Kulob and Vose district to discuss issues related to providing state microloans.
“Of 110 million somonis (TJS) provided from the country’ budget for loaning farming units, 25 million TJS will be distributed through Amonatbonk,” Saydaliyev said, noting that 2.563 million TJS in microloans have been provided to farming units in Khatlon’s Kulob region this year so far.
