DUSHANBE, February 10, 2011, Asia-Plus -- The Government of Japan has provided modern agricultural machines to three associations of dehqon (peasant) farms in Roudaki, Fayzobod and Danghara districts in the framework of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project, Improvement of Providing Agricultural Services through Strengthening of the Capacities of Agricultural Organizations in Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
The source at a MoA says the project has been implemented in the country for already three years as part of bilateral partnership between the governments of Tajikistan and Japan.
The technical assistance included grain separators, mowing machines, mounted fertilizer distributors and six mini flour mills. The associations of dehgon farms have also been provided with 22 tons of high-quality wheat seeds (six varieties) and 23.7 tons of mineral fertilizers, the source said.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is an independent governmental agency that coordinates official development assistance (ODA) for the Government of Japan. It is chartered with assisting economic and social growth in developing countries, and the promotion of international cooperation.
