DUSHANBE, April 2, 2011, Asia-Plus -- A new modern cable production plant is expected to be introduced into operation in Dushanbe this year, the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) press center reports.
Construction the plant with capacity of manufacturing 10,000 tons of cable products per year is funded by the TALCO. State-of-the-arts equipment from Germany and Finland will be installed in the plant that will create 500-600 new jobs.
There are several cable production plants in Tursunzoda and Dushanbe, but their products do not meet modern standards, press release issued by the TALCO says.
The new cable plant will be introduced into operation in September this year and its products will be realized both in domestic market and outside the country, including Afghanistan, Kazakhstan and some other countries.
Current price for one ton of cable products is now some 5,000 U.S. dollars, while current price of one ton of aluminum is 2,500 U.S. dollars.
Under the national program, 25,000 tons of the Tajik primary aluminum must be processed into manufactured goods in Tajikistan, while currently, only some 3,000 tons of aluminum are processed inside the country.
