DUSHANBE, September 23, 2011, Asia-Plus -- A Tajik delegation, led by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) First Deputy Speaker, Amirsho Miraliyev, is attending the Fourth Euro-Asia Economic Forum that is taking place in Xi’an, the capital of China’s northwest Shaanxi Province, from September 23 to September 24.
The source in the Majlisi Namoyandagon says Miraliyev will deliver a statement at the forum on achievements made by Tajikistan during 20 years of independence as well as on issues related to problems facing the region and providing regional security.
In the meantime, the Chinese news agency, Xinhua reports the 2011 session of the forum runs under the theme, “Innovating Euro-Asia Cooperation, Sharing Transformation Opportunity.”
750 representatives are reportedly attending the forum, including leaders, government officials, ambassadors, entrepreneurs and academics from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member countries and its observing countries as well as other countries from the European-Asian region.
The forum is an open and high-level platform for economic dialogues between European and Asian areas under the responsibility of the SCO.
The forum participants are exchange views on regional economic cooperation and promote common development and prosperity.
The biennial Euro-Asia Economic Forum was launched in Xi''an in 2005, and the city was named the permanent venue for the forum in April 2007.
