DUSHANBE, February 9, 2012, Asia-Plus -- A conference to discuss Tajikistan’s macroeconomic policy took place in Dushanbe recently.
An official source at the Ministry of economic Development and Trade (MEDT), says the event was part of the EU funded project, Strengthening Macroeconomic Modelling and Forecasting in Tajikistan.
The conference reportedly brought together senior representatives from relevant ministries and agencies, researchers and experts from the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, teachers from Tajik universities and representatives from international organizations active in Tajikistan to discuss various aspects of the macroeconomic policy and the macroeconomic forecasting in Tajikistan.
Speaking at the conference, the MEDT representatives noted that the rate of growth of the economy is expected to stand at 6-7 percent in the coming years despite a certain economic slowdown.
The conference participants also considered issues related to improving professional economic education, the source said.
